Jen Schaefer is Hope for HIE's certified social worker and often the first person families connect with. She helps them find support resources, build connections, and care for the emotional well-being of the whole family. Jen leads our weekly video support groups, which give families a non-judgmental space to work on coping strategies and connect with each other.
She also facilitates groups for specific parts of the HIE community, and leads the Hospital Ambassador program, peer support mentorship program, and other support services.
Her background is in medical social work, most recently in the neonatal ICU at Children's Wisconsin.
