Hope for HIE is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a worldwide support network and presence, dedicated to promoting awareness, advocacy, education, research and support for Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). The organization was incorporated legally within the State of Michigan in 2013, confirmed as a non-profit in 2014 by the IRS.
Hope for HIE is guided by a dedicated board of directors who bring not only diverse skill sets of professional expertise, but deeply personal connections to the HIE community. That lived experience shapes everything we do, ensuring that every decision we make is rooted in what families truly need, and our organizational resources are thoughtfully managed to and allocated to meet those needs.
Together with our staff, our board provides the leadership and vision to advance our mission to improve the quality of life for children and families impacted by neonatal and pediatric-acquired hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy through awareness, advocacy, education, research, and support with the ultimate vision to decrease the incidence and impact of HIE.








Our volunteer community is large and located in multiple countries around the world. Because of our global reach and involvement, this important group of volunteers give time, talent and support to move forward Hope for HIE’s mission and vision with a wide range of skills and experience.
