Annie Gunning is Hope for HIE's Certified Child Life Specialist and Grief Counselor. For more than 22 years she has supported children and families through medical and life challenges, both in hospitals and in the community. She has held positions at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Atrium Health, Novant Health, and SSM Health, and she owns Empower through Play, LLC.

Annie helps families prepare for medical visits and hospital stays, and she teaches play-based coping strategies and infant massage. She also offers sibling support and walks with families through bereavement and loss.
