SOCIAL WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

Who we are:

Hope for HIE is a 501(c)3 non-profit, and the premier global resource for families whose children have been diagnosed with neonatal or pediatric-acquired hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, a type of brain injury. We are deeply committed to providing support for our families and their journey. Our worldwide community represents a variety of outcomes—from unaffected through loss. We provide comprehensive support programming and services, both in person and online, and believe that by uniting the HIE community, we can ensure that each person who is touched by this diagnosis finds a place they feel they can call home and thrive within their journey.

The Position:

The ideal candidate is a mission-focused, trauma-informed, self-starting licensed social worker with previous experience supporting families in a NICU or PICU or other medical setting, has built support programming through previous or current roles, and is skilled in building referral relationships. The position has two facets: managing support programming and resources for families (50%), and professional outreach building referral relationships (50%).

Essential Accountabilities:

Manage and facilitate support programming for Hope for HIE’s comprehensive support network:

Peer Support Mentorship program
Hospital ambassador program
Weekly video support group facilitation
Social services case management
Clinical trial and research program
Elevate and manage concerns relating to the mental health and well-being of families in Hope for HIE’s support network, connecting families in crisis to local mental health supports, as needed.
Build and manage a bi-directional professional referral network of NICU, PICU, and applicable pediatric and community resource providers to connect HIE families.
Connect Hope for HIE families to appropriate local resources through the management of various programming software and resources.
Provide trauma-informed training for peer support mentors, volunteers and other constituents of Hope for HIE for applicable needs and programs.
Some travel is required 1-2x/annually for in-person foundation events and applicable professional networking conferences.

Qualifications:

Education

Master’s degree in Social Work from accredited Social Work academic program

Certification

Licensed Social Worker

Experience

Minimum of 5+ years of applicable work experience

Ability to flexibly manage emerging strategic priorities for the organization
Strong knowledge of operational and business systems
Experience with various social media platforms, CRM, Google Suite, video conferencing, and cloud-based graphics programs like Canva

Compensation & Hours:

$34-38/hour based on education and experience
Part-time role with 15-20 hours of work per week
100% remote with flexible working hours
